The Perleporten Kulturhus cultural centre in Honningsvåg is located in the former chapel in the municipality of Nordkapp, one of the first buildings built in the area after World War II. After falling into disrepair and being empty for many years, the building was purchased in 2011 by Tore Fosse and his wife Birgit Lähdesmäki Johansen. They decided to fulfil their dream of creating a lively cultural centre, and in the summer of 2012 Perleporten Kulturhus opened in the centre of Honningsvåg.
The theatre is situated only a five-minute walk from the Port of Honningsvåg and offers a homely atmosphere with coffee and waffles, a must when visiting Norway.
Visitors can now enjoy a special performance in English, Our Northernmost Life, concerts, exhibitions and a gallery and café all year round. There were no less than 120 performances of Our Northernmost Life during the summer of 2015. In 2016 this unique performance will be offered in both summer and winter.
Several cruise lines have become aware of this original, local production and have started offering it as a regular shorex offer on calls to the North Cape.
Our Northernmost Life has received excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, and is now listed as the no. 1 attraction in Honningsvåg/North Cape.
