9 May Tromsø Cable Car reopens

The Tromsø Cable Car has been in operation since 1961, transporting around 3.5 million passengers up the mountain Storsteinen (421 m above sea level). From here, you can enjoy the best panoramic views of Tromsø and the surrounding area.Last year, the owners decided to invest in a major upgrade, including new gondolas and machinery. A total of EUR 8 million has been invested in the attraction, which has emerged as a state-of-the-art cable car supplied by Swiss Doppelmayr. For cruise lines, it is worth noting that a lift has been installed at the upper station so the Cable Car is now a disability-friendly attraction. As part of the upgrade, the terrace has been extended by 120 square meter, which makes the panoramic views even more spectacular than before. The cable car’s brand has also received a facelift, as you can see by visiting the attraction’s brand new website, fjellheisen.no.
