1 Galleri Lofotens hus– Northern Norway’s new national gallery
In Henningsvær, you will be able to visit Galleri Lofotens Hus, also known as Galleri Karl Erik Harr. The gallery has Three floors. The ground floor has one of the largest collections of art from the so-called Golden Age of North Norwegian painting, from the late 18th to the early 19th Century. When the European Royal Families visited the gallery, it was featured in Norway’s biggest newspaper, VG, as Northern Norway’s new national gallery. On the first floor, you can find an Exhibition by one of Norway’s best-known contemporary artists, Karl Erik Harr. The second floor has an excellent Exhibition of photographs taken during the Lofoten Fishery in the 1920s. But before you see these wonderful art works, there is a multimedia show put together by photographer Frank A. Jensen. It is a series of beautiful images that shows life in Lofoten throughout the year. There is no commentary, just music and the sounds of Nature.
