1 Fossil hunt in the Arctic terrain

On this trip you will get the chance to walk on the Arctic terrain in the area around Longyearbyen and between the Lars glacier and the Longyear glacier. From the pier you will be transported to the end of Longyearbyen before you start the walk up to the moraine of the Longyear glacier to look after plant fossils which you can bring back as souvenir. The fossils are up to 60 millions years old and show that once up on a time Svalbard had a warm climate. The guide will tell about glacier on Svalbard and why there are so many fossils in the moraines. You will also see a lot of flora on this trip and the guide will tell about Svalbards history.Destination: 162
